My first and only half marathon

On Sunday I ran my first and only half marathon on Queensland's Gold Coast. The longest distance I had run in the past was 10km in the NIKE Great Race last year. The half marathon is 21km and even though it was a flat course it was a real challenge for a social runner like me. Anyway I am rapt that I did it and I know that it will be my first and last half. Laugh your way to wellness

In his book ‘Anatomy of an Illness’, Norman Cousins tells the story of how he ‘laughed his way out of a crippling disease’ that doctors believed to be irreversible. It was Helen Keller who said ‘Life is a daring adventure, or nothing at all’.  Fear of the unknown is a normal part of life but one that Read More...

I get to do a lot of work in Asia and I find it interesting that over there they pay the practitioner to keep them well. If they get sick they don’t pay which is the opposite to our medical model not just in Australia but in most of the western world. They live from a place of prevention and don’t wait to get ill. The biggest change I have made in my life in the last twenty years Read More...

Dad and I

I have always had a fascination with motor bikes and got my licence in my early twenties. In the last ten years I have taken up riding more regularly again and I have shared pictures of some of my rides with my mates in this newsletter and on my blog. Just before Christmas my mum showed me an old photo of my dad in his younger days with his motor bike. So I had a play Read More...
