SHOW NOTES

You Are Not Lazy — You’re Running on Empty

Today we’re cutting through the noise and calling it like it is. If you’re a woman 40 or beyond and you’ve been feeling flat, foggy, and wondering “Where the hell did my mojo go?”—this one’s for you.

If you’ve caught yourself thinking:

  • “Why am I so tired all the time? I’m not even doing that much!”

  • “Maybe I’m just lazy now?”

Let me stop you right there:
You are not lazy.
You are burned out.
And your energy tank? It’s running on fumes.
Let’s change that — BAM style.

The Real Reason You’re Flat

Here’s the truth: Most women in their 40s and 50s are still trying to run their lives on the same energy model from their 20s — full throttle, no rest, push through, caffeinate, crash, repeat.

But your body isn’t playing that game anymore.

  • Your hormones have shifted.

  • Your nervous system is overwhelmed.

  • And your poor adrenals? They’re crying into their protein smoothie.

This isn’t just “getting older.”
This is what happens when you live in stress-mode for too long without recovery.

And after 40, when estrogen starts playing hide-and-seek, guess who picks up the slack?
Your adrenal glands.
Those two walnut-sized powerhouses are responsible for cortisol production and hormonal backup. When they’re overworked from constant stress, your energy isn’t just low—it’s hijacked by your survival systems.

Hype Energy vs. Core Energy

Let’s clear something up.

Most of what we used to call “energy” was actually hype energy:
☕️ Caffeine, sugar, deadlines, panic-fuelled productivity.
It’s a boom-and-bust cycle.

What you want now is core energy:
Steady, grounded, sustainable power that doesn’t rely on adrenaline or stimulants.
If hype energy is dodgy Wi-Fi, core energy is your hardwired Ethernet—reliable and real.

The Energy Edit — BAM Style

Let’s get back to basics with some Bare Arse Minimums that actually work:

🔋 1. Sleep Like It Matters

Not just more sleep—better sleep.

  • Cool, dark room

  • Screens off 90 minutes before bed

  • Magnesium before sleep (my non-negotiable)

  • Bonus: brain-dump journaling to clear your mind

💨 2. Reset Your Nervous System (Daily. Non-Negotiable.)

Just 3 minutes a day can change everything.
Try this:

  • Sit still

  • Two quick sniffs in, long sigh out

  • Rub fingertips together or scan your body

  • Say aloud: “I am safe. I am supported. I am allowed to slow down.”

🍳 3. Eat to Fuel (Not Flatten)

Ditch the sugar spikes.

  • Start your day with protein and healthy fats

  • Think eggs, avo, greens, or a protein smoothie (like I do, 5 days a week)

  • Hydrate before coffee (yes, you read that right)

Your Midlife Permission Slip

You’re not lazy.
You’re not broken.
You’re simply burned out from being bloody brilliant for way too long without recovery.

Start small. Pick one BAM. Then another.
This is how we Rise Strong.
