Gritty Mindfulness in particular, designed by Dr Alice MacKinnon in 2023, is 7 simple steps that help centre and steady us in the busyness of life so we can more often than not, respond well, rather than flip our lids and react. 

  1. First notice that you’re off centre – your body will signal this.
  2. Name it to tame it – name the emotion you’re feeling.
  3. Self-regulate and come back to centre 5x5x5 breath.
  4. Choose your mindset & how you’ll respond to the situation
  5. Respond consciously
  6. Reflect, review, debrief
  7. Decider on your next steps
