SHOWNOTES
Fire Cider traditionally combines horseradish, ginger, garlic, onions, and hot pepper dissolved in apple cider vinegar.
Jens Fire Water
500ml of Apple Cider Vinegar
1 teaspoon of ground Ginger
1 teaspoon of ground Cayenne chilli
1 teaspoon of ground Cinnamon
1 teaspoon of ground Tumeric
½ teaspoon of ground black pepper
Let it steep a few days then I store it in the refrigerator and I add about 1-2 teaspoons with soda water for a refreshing aperitif or drink any time of the day.
The spices are warming on the digestive system and are excellent for if the fire has gone out in your belly and digestion is sluggish.

Hi, Lady i stumbled across your tik tik profile, and then the podcast. Just listen to podcast 123 for gut health. I’ve been diagnosed with a really large hiatal hernia. I want to go with a diet driven practice trying to avoid medicine. God forbid surgery. Not gotten much help from my GP. Hoping to find a diet that with help reduce the hernia. And fix my digestion. Ty Lilli
Hi Lilli, bottom line is go see a naturopath in the clinic as I know they will be able to help you with your specifics. Email me jennifer@jenniferjefferies.com and I can connect you with a naturopath who can do an online consult
Thank you so much Jennifer. I love listening to your podcasts and am starting your healthy drink today!!
Thank you for being ‘real’.
Kind regards
Melanie Crawford 🙏🙏🙏
Should the ginger, chilli and tumeric be fresh or can they be powdered? I can get fresh ginger but fresh chillis and tumeric are hard to find where I live in Florida. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
I grow my own, dry and grind down to powder. Yes powdered is fine
Sorry stupid question i’m going to ask… ‘How much do you drink of it a day?’ I have been watching and following you both on Tik toc .. thank you for your realism!
If you are not used to drinking apple cider vinegar even a teaspoon would be great in some water and build up from there. I have about a dessertspoon most days
Another brilliant pod cast!
Love how you pronounced aperitif.
Will definitely try this Fire Water, as I’m in the northern hemisphere, it’s winter and cold/flu season.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I made your fire water and have been having it twice a day in water for the last 10 days; my post menopausal hot flushes have gone from too many to count to the odd one here and there. I’m also not being woken during the night from extremely painful legs. Another plus is I am not getting bloated towards the end of the day. So simple and it tastes good too!!
Great to hear Emma. Keep up the great work!
This sounds great except isn’t it a bit harsh on the throat? What is the recommended serving?
Thanks!
Sheila
Hi Sheila, you add 1 to 2 teaspoons to your soda water or water. Not drink the fire water straight. Cheers Jen
Hello, thanks you for sharing your wisdom with us! My husband and I are finding many things to add to our health routines. One question-do you stain the fire water or drink it as is?
Hi Teresa, you can leave it all in, and then just take out 1-2 teaspoons to add to your soda water. Jen
