We hear things all the time from our environment, words that people say. We can choose to allow them to impact us or not. In this episode, Jen shares one of her life lessons on how words and behaviours impact health and what you can choose to do to change that.

SHOWNOTES

Stress can. What does pain really cost us when we’re in pain, we get stressed. And when we are stressed, that feeds the pain. When we’re stressed, our brain sends these messages to our nerves and they, they activate all our muscles and we tighten up, we go into defense mode, we end up on the loop and it keeps feeding and keeping us trapped in this loop.

We end up on this loop that keeps feeding and keeps us trapped.

There is a thing called the brain-body loop. It describes the constant connection between body and brain.

It involves both the suppression of acute pain and the amplification of persistent pain.

It’s a two-way system that runs between our body tissues and the Nervous System.

When we stress, we cause our muscles to tense or spasm, which increases pain.

Also, when we feel stressed, our stress hormone cortisol rises causing inflammation and pain.

it’s a loop we need to break.

The naturopath in me will always start with the emotions that are feeding the stress.

So, whatever you need to do to help get your head around what’s happening, stay grounded and come from prevention is step 1.

Take deep breaths

Worry and stress cause your amygdala to activate, sounding the alarm in your brain and blocking your prefrontal cortex from making clear decisions. Luckily, the amygdala is soothed with oxygen, and deep breathing often does the trick.

Take several slow, deep breaths.

Things like meditation and aromatherapy are vital at this stage.
