The sad reality is that most people will wait until they hit rock bottom before they look after their health. But career success and cool toys are worth nothing if you aren’t well enough to enjoy them. In this episode, Jen shares how to reorder your values and habits to move yourself up the priority list and invest in your health before getting a life-altering diagnosis or condition.

SHOWNOTES

Are aches and pains plaguing you? The most common cause of pain is muscle pain from tension, stress, overuse and minor injuries. This type of pain is usually localised and affects just a few muscles or a small part of your body. I get this with surfing all of the time.

Other forms of pain can include:

  • Forms of arthritis – Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Bursitis or tendinitis in multiple joints
  • Soft tissue abnormalities
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Nerve pain

These aren’t the muscle overuse type of discomfort; these are stemming from inflammation pain.

How to know when inflammation is involved

Acute inflammation can cause pain of varying types and severity. Pain may be constant and steady, throbbing and pulsating, stabbing, or pinching.

Pain results when the build-up of fluid leads to swelling and the swollen tissues push against sensitive nerve endings.

Identify if your ache is relieved by warm or cold

  1. Rest and Ice – if first injured or relieved by cool to ease pain and inflammation
  2. Epsom Salt Soak – A classic remedy for sore muscles and joints is to take a relaxing bath with Epsom Salts
  3. Getting Enough Movement and Exercise
  4. Collagen and Other Natural Supplements
  5. Neurologically Based Chiropractic Care
  6. Seek medical help if necessary
