SHOWNOTES
The lymphatic system clears away infection, and keeps your body fluids in balance. If it’s not working properly, fluid builds in your tissues and it causes swelling, called lymphedema.
Why is the lymphatic system so important?
The lymphatic system is part of your immune system. The primary function of the lymphatic system is to transport lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, throughout the body.
It protects your body illness-causing germs, bacteria, viruses and fungi. It also produces special white blood cells (Lymphocytes) that produce antibodies, which help immune response against disease.
They maintain body fluid levels, absorb digestive tract fats and remove cellular waste. An easy way to think about it is that it’s a vacuum cleaner for your blood. It works to mobilise and protect you from the nasties in life.
