When things go wrong, do you beat yourself up or build yourself up? If you’re like most people, you criticise yourself and then compare your failure to the perceived success of someone else, but this doesn’t serve you. In this episode, Jen shares why we need to screw up, learn, tweak and try again to grow and the importance of spending most of our time focusing on our strengths and celebrating our progress.

SHOWNOTES

Have you ever compared yourself to someone else? Or to something someone else can do but you can’t do yet? We all have.

But you have a choice. You can compare yourself to someone else and throw a “poor me” or you can learn and build yourself up.

The fact is the only we learn is by making mistakes. We need to screw up, learn, tweak and try again to get better. When we compare ourselves, we take ourselves out of the game.

But what if, instead of focusing on our weaknesses we focused on our strengths?

Break up your time this way instead:

1. Spend 75% of your time on your strength
2. Spend 20% of your time learning new things
3. Spend 5% of your time on your weakness

What I know for sure through the law of attraction is what we think about we bring about. Our thoughts create our feelings, which create our actions, which bring about our results.

You might think “Argh, all I get is bills we keep getting bills!” You will attract more of the same negative energy to you.

It’s time to change it up.

Spend the bulk of your time on really rocking your positive skills, do some more learning and keep improving.

Stop focusing on what you aren’t good at and comparing yourself to someone who has that as a strength. In most cases, they have just been doing it longer and are better at it.
