SHOWCASE
Do you remember at school, we used to make glue out of white flour and water? Remember how it smelled after a few hours and how it set like cement when you used it? Well, that same cement-like action is happening inside your body every time you eat white bread, pasta and rice.
After it’ been in there for a while, it becomes foul. It sticks to the walls of your bowel and sucks the life out of you. Officially it is called bowel plaque. I call it ‘bum glue’.
My personal mission in life is to get ‘bum glue’ white refined grains like white bread, white rice and white pasta off the supermarket shelves in my lifetime. Why? Because they are poison. Let me explain.
In life, we want our foods as close to nature as possible. The further away they are the less nutrition and more acidic response on our body and health. So, why is that bad for you? Simple, refined and processed foods are acidifying on the body and cause inflammation, and that’s what is behind so many ailments.
Inflammatory diseases are conditions that are characterised by inflammation. Allergies, asthma, autoimmune diseases, coeliac disease, gout, lupus and many other conditions are all fed by inflammation.
How do you tell if something is inflammation fed? The ancients characterised inflammation by five cardinal signs, namely redness, swelling (tumour), heat, pain and loss of function.
We want foods that are close to nature. It would help if you avoided grains that have had the wheatgerm removed, which is what white bread, pasta and rice are. The germ is where most of the nutrients live.
Refined and processed grains are acid-forming and when consumed as flour tend to cause problems in the gut (such as bloating), the brain and in the joint capsules. They are also rich in phytates, which are acids that bind minerals to the intestinal tract causing them to be excreted unused.
Have a ‘healthy’ meat and salad sandwich on white bread for lunch every day, and the water-soluble nutrients will immediately be leeched out of your body — especially minerals like chromium which is the cause behind type 2 diabetes. I promise we could reduce the incidence of type 2 diabetes so dramatically in the world just by eliminating white refined grains from our shops.
So, how can you tell if you have some stuck bum glue?
- First, you need to stand up.
- Put your fingers tips on the outside of your legs
- Give it a good massage on the outside of your legs
- Notice if you’re sore or not, which leg or both.
So, the Healthy Life Hacks for this episode are:
- Replace white grains with brown in your diet, and your basic level of health will increase dramatically. Working out which carbohydrates to eat is easy, remember to eat unrefined brown grains (brown rice, pasta and bread) and go for low GI. Don’t just switch to grain bread as this can be grains in a refined white base.
- Eat a dessertspoon of Psyllium husks each day and make sure you have one glass of water an hour so that they can do their job removing old stuck bum glue.
